Happy Birthday

85 Helium Balloons, 30 cupcakes, 2 chocolate ice cream pies, a gallon of lemonade, one quiche, fruit bowl, chips and dip; 15 ankle biter’s and their parents, one sandbox, one playhouse, too many saggy diapers, and a pile of gifts… Happy Second Birthday Araella!
Hey there Bruerd family,
It has been fun to read about your life a little here. I wish Andrew and I were going to being seeing you in a few days in Thailand, but maybe next time . . .
I have loved reading about the things you are doing to practically help the village you are working with. The clay pot watering system is amazing. Andrew and I have a garden and I would love to try it here. I have no idea where I would get pots though. I guess Andrew might be able to make them–he will be in a ceramics class next semester. The compressed brick idea could really be put to use in East Timor where my mom and dad are. The county is tiny and everyone cooks with wood. The mountain-sides are quickly becoming bare and of course no one is planting new trees. They grow a ton of coffee in E.T. I wonder if dried coffee skins could be pressed and burned???
Well, say hi to our class for me and happy birthday Araella. She is a beautiful girl!
